Does Your Physical Location Matter When Posting?
May 4, 2026

I had a bit of a weird moment with my content this week while traveling… and it got me thinking.
If you’re new here, hi! I’m Lauren, Radiant’s Content Strategist… and also someone who travels full-time as a digital nomad.
This week, I actually saw a dip in engagement on a few of my own posts while I was abroad. Not something I usually experience, so naturally I went down a bit of a rabbit hole trying to figure out just how much physical location affects your post’s performance.
Does your physical location matter when posting?
THE BIG DOSE
Platforms like TikTok and Instagram do factor in location signals like your IP address and device settings when deciding who sees your content first. But here’s my key takeaway…
Location is a signal, not a strategy.
For health and wellness brands, this is everything. You don’t need to be where your audience is. You need to speak to where they are in their lifestyle, habits, and mindset.
The only time location really works against you is when your content starts sending mixed signals, different audiences, inconsistent messaging, unclear positioning.
So if you’re posting remotely or managing content across locations, don’t overthink it. Focus on what actually drives performance:
- Clear, audience-first messaging
- Consistent content themes
- Strong early engagement
- Posting in your audience’s timezone
No VPN tricks required. Just better content.
Rapid Release
QUICK HITS
- Brand trips are still very hot. Rael completely took over social this week with theirs. The question is… could your brand create something your audience actually wants to be part of?
- Netflix just reported ad revenue at an all-time high, proving streaming isn’t slowing down anytime soon. If you’re not thinking about how your content or ads fit into this space, it might be time to start.
- The Hershey Company is investing $2 billion into AI-powered marketing. Smart move or risky bet? Either way, it’s clear AI isn’t just a trend, it’s becoming a core part of how brands operate.
