In our crazy world, it’s easy to feel like you don’t know what you’re doing. Many of us have adopted a “fake it til you make it” attitude–after all, great leadership is a hard skill to master, and great leaders aren’t made in a day. I certainly won’t pretend to have all the answers. What I will do is share with you the 5 mantras that great leaders swear by. Who knows? Maybe they’ll rub off on you, too.

Be quick to praise, but slow to admonish. Praise in public, but admonish in private.
Simply put: great leaders treat their people well. Always, without exception.
Learn to say out loud “I was wrong” and “I don’t know.”
Great leaders know when to step back, and they know when to admit that someone else on their team might no better. It’s okay if one of your employees occasionally outsmarts you–after all, isn’t that why you hired them?
